Disclaimer & Policies

Maternal is designed to complement — never replace — the care provided by your NHS team or any other healthcare professionals involved in your journey. I do not offer full clinical management, make medical diagnoses, or provide emergency care. My role is to offer wellbeing checks, infant feeding assessments, health promotion, and personalised, evidence-based support in your home, working alongside your primary healthcare providers to help you feel informed, confident and supported.

Legal & Professional Scope

Maternal operates within the professional standards of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). All care is offered within the limits of my regulated scope as a midwife working in a non-NHS, non-clinical setting.

    I do not provide:

  • Medical diagnoses or prescriptions.
  • Clinical management of pregnancy, labour or the postnatal period.
  • Emergency care or any intervention requiring urgent medical attention.
  • Monitoring or decision-making that must be carried out by your NHS midwife, GP or hospital team.

If a concern arises outside my remit, I will signpost or refer you to the appropriate healthcare professional to ensure safety and continuity of care.

Emergency Policy

Maternal is not an emergency service. If you are worried about your health or your baby's health and believe urgent care may be needed, you should:

  • Call 999, or
  • Attend your nearest hospital.

Payment policy

Payment is required at the time of booking to confirm your appointment or package. Packages must be paid in full in advance unless a written instalment plan has been agreed

Rescheduling & Cancellations

  • Clients are asked to provide a minimum of 48 hours' notice if they need to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
  • Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice may incur a charge of 50% of the appointment fee, and appointments missed without notice will be charged in full.
  • Circumstances such as sudden illness or urgent family situations will always be considered, and in these cases appointments may be rearranged without additional charges.
  • Should I need to reschedule due to illness or an unforeseen circumstance, I will notify you at the earliest opportunity and offer an alternative appointment time.
  • If the alternative offered is not suitable, any pre-paid fees for that appointment (or the unused portion of a package) will be refunded in full.

Confidentiality & Data Protection

  • All personal information you share is treated with the strictest confidentiality and stored in line with UK data protection requirements (GDPR).
  • Records are kept securely and only used to provide you with safe and personalised care.
